This is the image of the Tyco crater superimposed on the Landsat* image of the Kanto Plain, Japan to compare its size. This image was created by changing the transmittance of the Tyco crater image superimposed on that of the Kanto Plain from 0 to 100%. The entire Kanto Plain was overlapped by the Tyco crater (which is about 84km in diameter).
* Landsat: Landsat is a set of earth observation satellites operated by the US, currently including Landsat 5 and 7. The above image is a mosaic image with data observed on Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, 1993. These data were received and processed at the Earth Observation Center of Japan. This is a true color image that was band-combined and calibrated to conform to the color as viewed with our own eyes.
The data was processed by the LISM/TC team.
LISM/TC editorial group selected images and created contents.
